SBLI and Tedy Bruschi

When you think of Tedy Bruschi, joyous memories come to mind. His game-changing interception in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XXXIX. His interception and touchdown in division-clinching win versus Miami at a snowy Gillette Stadium.

His boundless enthusiasm in the huddle and on the sidelines every Sunday. But in February 2005, just days after returning from the Pro Bowl, fans everywhere were left with a far different memory. Tedy had been hospitalized with a stroke.

Rehab and determination brought him back to the NFL just eight months later, but he never forgot what he almost lost. Since then, Tedy has become an advocate for the American Stroke Association and for SBLI of Massachusetts.

On April 19, 2008, SBLI proudly supported Tedy and his wife Heidi as they hosted a stirring event days before the running of the Boston Marathon. Tedy & Heidi Bruschi’s Night of Inspiration celebrated members of Tedy's Team, a group of marathoners running to raise money and awareness for stroke prevention.

A California native and University of Arizona graduate, Tedy now lives in Massachusetts year-round with Heidi and their three sons. He will return for a 13th season with the New England Patriots this fall.
